The WHO Sexual Health Assessment of Practices and Experiences (SHAPE) Questionnaire
The SHAPE (Sexual Health Assessment of Practices and Experiences) questionnaire, a significant initiative by the WHO and the HRP Alliance, stands as a foundational tool for sexual health researchers worldwide.

Its development aimed to provide a standardized method for collecting data on sexual practices, behaviors, and health outcomes that are easily understood by a broad audience. With both interviewer-administered and self-administered modules, the SHAPE questionnaire is versatile enough to be utilized in diverse global contexts.

The primary goal of introducing the SHAPE questionnaire is to enhance the ability of researchers and WAS members to gather consistent and comparable data across different countries and regions. This consistent methodology will pave the way for global insights into sexual health that were previously difficult to achieve due to varied research approaches.

We strongly encourage our WAS community, especially researchers and members involved in sexual health studies, to adopt the SHAPE questionnaire in their data collection efforts. By utilizing this tool, you contribute to a global repository of sexual health data that can inform future policies, educational programs, and health services to better meet the needs of populations worldwide.

Embrace this opportunity to standardize and enrich sexual health research. Leverage the SHAPE questionnaire in your studies to help build a more comprehensive understanding of sexual health practices and outcomes globally.
