| NEWSLETTER September 2025 | | WELCOMING A NEW EDITOR-IN-CHIEF (interim) | | As of 1 September 2025, we are delighted to welcome Sapna Desai as the interim Editor-in-Chief of the SRHM Journal. Her six-month appointment follows the handover from Emma Pitchforth, whom we warmly congratulate on her new role as Head of the Department of Health and Community Sciences at the University of Exeter. | | We are deeply grateful to Emma, who has served as Executive Editor of the SRHM Journal since 2020. Her contributions have been pivotal to the journal's growth, and we will soon release a podcast conversation between SRHM Chief Executive Eszter Kismödi, Emma and Sapna, reflecting on the past five years and looking ahead to future directions. Sapna has a longstanding association with SRHM, having served as co-Chair of the Board of Trustees, co-Editor of the South Asia special issue, Associate Editor, and as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board. Sapna's public health work has focussed on SRHR through the life course, health systems and community participation, including with SEWA, the Population Council and academic partners. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and MS in Population and International Health from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. With this proclamation, we set our strategic priorities to guide collective action and ensure progress with purpose, unity, and accountability. | | | Sexual Justice Roundtable in Porto | | This year's World Sexual Health Day coincided with a landmark event in Portugal: the launch of the World Observatory on Sexual Health, a collaboration between the University of Porto and WAS. Based at the University of Porto, the Observatory will serve as a global hub for knowledge and collaboration, ensuring that evidence drives advocacy, education, policy, and service delivery worldwide. A highlight of the Porto programme was a Sexual Justice Roundtable, which took place 4 September and was chaired by Eszter Kismödi, member of the Executive Committee, Associate Secretary and Chair of the Sexual Rights Committee of WAS, and Chief Executive of SRHM.
