Why Brisbane?

Welcome to Meanjin (Brisbane), the third-largest city in Australia and the capital of Queensland (QLD).

Recently chosen as the destination for the 2032 Olympics, Brisbane is now a prominent hotspot in Australia. The city is a vibrant and diverse hub for art, culture, and dining, complemented by its relaxing natural features—earning Queensland the nickname "Sunshine State."
Plan a longer stay and explore World Heritage rainforests, majestic mountain peaks and the pristine Moreton Bay filled with glorious islands and wildlife within an hour from the city. Or take the opportunity to visit the nearby Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, both just a 1-2 hour drive away.
Brisbane Exhibition & Convention Centre

Being consistently voted at the top of world venue rankings, reflects the commitment and passion of Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre's team in presenting incredible events, and recognises Brisbane as a vibrant globally-connected city delivering exceptional experiences expected of a future Olympic City.

Congress Collaboration

We are proud to share that, for the first time since the signing of the charter with the Federations, WAS is officially combining our regional and international congresses. AOFS is the first regional federation to co-host a WAS Congress since the charter was signed.

We are also excited to announce that SAS will be hosting their annual symposium in association with this congress. We are grateful for SAS's hospitality and delighted to collaborate with them on this significant event.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce that the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) is the Professional Conference Organizer (PCO) for this congress.

We look forward to seeing you in Brisbane for an enriching and groundbreaking experience at WAS 2025!

Warm regards,

The World Association for Sexual Health
