View this email in your browser Dear WAS Members and Friends,  This week, we have four updates to share with you: An important invited commentary on the clinical application of the WAS Sexual Pleasure Declaration has been published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine this month. A reminder about the upcoming FLASSES webinar on Sexual Desire, happening on August 15th, which will be presented in Spanish, with subtitles in multiple languages available. World Sexual Health Day (WSHD) is just around the corner on September 4th, with exciting webinars and ways to get involved. A tribute to the late Dr. Konstance McCaffree, a pioneer in sexuality education and past president of both AASECT and SSSS. Read on to stay informed and engaged with our latest initiatives and upcoming events. Article on Sexual Pleasure Published in the JSM We are pleased to announce the publication of an important article in The Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM), authored by WAS President Elna Rudolph, Vice President Alain Giami, and Chair of the Scientific Committee, Erick Janssen. The article, titled Clinical Application of the Declaration on Sexual Pleasure of the World Association for Sexual Health, highlights sexual pleasure as a key dimension of physical and mental well-being. In this article, the authors discuss the application of the WAS Declaration on Sexual Pleasure, recognizing it as a fundamental aspect of sexual health. This publication marks a significant step forward in our mission to advocate for Sexual Health and Rights for ALL. We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our key partner, the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), whose support has been instrumental in reaching healthcare professionals and advancing our shared goals. Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to essential Sexual Health resources. Engage in enriching conversations about positive relationships from various angles, and gain insights from leading voices in the field. Register for the webinar here SRHM WSHD Webinar We also want to highlight a special WSHD webinar hosted by our member organization, Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM), in collaboration with The Pleasure Project and Agents of Ishq. With over 30 years of advocacy and research combined, this webinar promises to deliver a wealth of knowledge and excitement. This event will take place on September 5th and will explore the radical understanding of pleasure as political, with insights from feminist researchers and pleasure activists. This promises to be an enlightening session, marking the launch of The Pleasure Project's new editorial and the first Special Collection of the SRHM Journal on sexual pleasure. Here are some ideas on how you can get involved: Incorporate the theme of "Positive Relationships" into your activities and communications throughout September. Engage on social media using #WSHD2024 and #positiverelationships. Distribute information about World Sexual Health Day 2024 within your networks and encourage participation. Spread the word about the official WAS WSHD webinar on September 4th, 2024. Host activities or events that highlight the importance of positive relationships in Sexual Health and well-being. Access the free WSHD resources here Remembering Konstance McCaffree We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Dr. Konstance "Konnie" McCaffree, a highly respected sexuality educator and past president of two key WAS member organizations, AASECT and SSSS.  Konnie's work impacted countless lives around the world through her curriculum development, teaching, and leadership. Her legacy in sexuality education will continue to inspire and guide us in our ongoing efforts. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. As we reflect on her remarkable contributions, we encourage you to share your memories and stories of Konnie. Let us honor her legacy by continuing the work she was so passionate about.
