Announcement: WAS General Assembly – December 12

The WAS General Assembly (GA) is the highest governing body of WAS. This year's GA will be conducted online on Tuesday, December 12, at 15h00 (South African Standard Time).

The GA of WAS is open to anyone to attend, but only official representatives of WAS Member Organisations, Federation Presidents and the WAS Advisory Committee (AC) members have voting rights at the GA.

During this general assembly, voting will take place regarding important updates to WAS statutes. In particular to provide for regional representation on the WAS AC and to give the boards of the official WAS Federations the opportunity to nominate candidates for election onto the WAS AC, along with those nominated by our member organisations. A detailed description of this process will be distributed to all member organisations and those interested via email.

Representatives of member organizations—please check your inbox for the invitation and meeting details. If you have not received an email, contact WAS Executive Director Renè de Klerk at exec@worldsexualhealth.net.

We encourage our members and the rest of the WAS community to join this important meeting. Together, we will review this year's progress, vote on important matters and discuss key strategies for advancing Sexual Health and Rights for ALL.

New Paper on Scaling Up School-Based Sexuality Education

We are pleased to share a new publication from Dr. Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli, recipient of the WAS Gold Medal Award. Published in the American Journal of Sexuality Education, the paper explores strategies for scaling up, sustaining, and enhancing school-based sexuality education in resource-constrained and conservative contexts.

This research includes case studies from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Senegal, Mexico, and Uruguay, highlighting practical lessons and innovative approaches for implementing sexuality education where resources and cultural acceptance may be limited.

This paper is based on Dr. Chandra-Mouli's PhD thesis; further information, including a summary, videos, and images from his public defense, is available on his website.
