IDAHOBIT 2025: The Power of Communities

17 May 2025 – International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia

This year's IDAHOBIT theme, The Power of Communities, celebrates the strength and leadership of LGBTQIA+ communities in the ongoing struggle for equality, safety, and justice.

Observed annually, IDAHOBIT marks the 1990 decision by the World Health Organization to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. It is now recognized globally as a moment to reflect, mobilize, and advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights.

The 2025 theme, developed through global consultation, highlights the contributions of human rights defenders, community organizers, and LGBTQIA+ individuals worldwide—and the power of collective solidarity in confronting systemic discrimination.

Organizational Member: UN|HUSHED Remote Trainings

UN|HUSHED, recipient of the WAS 2023 Award for Excellence in Sexuality Education, offers a dynamic suite of remote trainings for sexuality educators working with learners aged 5 to 19.

Their evidence-based, trauma-informed trainings address critical topics such as:

- TikToxic Masculinity in the Classroom
- Sex Ed & the Law
- Teaching Sex Ed Online (English & Spanish)
- Elementary, Middle, and High School Curriculum Training

UN|HUSHED's mission is to break the silence around human sexuality, and their work is rooted in values of rights, inclusivity, innovation, and justice.

Why does this matter?

Globally, lack of comprehensive sexuality education contributes to harmful outcomes including early marriage, STI transmission, violence, and unwanted pregnancy. UN|HUSHED offers an alternative: comprehensive, culturally relevant, inclusive, and emotionally grounded sex education.

All trainings are online. Some are free; others available at discounted rates.
