Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM) and Columbia University's Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health (PopFam) are pleased to invite you to an upcoming webinar on environmental justice and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), to be held in the context of the 70th session of the
Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
The 2026 CSW priority theme focuses on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including through inclusive legal systems, the elimination of discriminatory laws and policies, and the removal of structural barriers. The review theme addresses women's full and effective participation in public life and the elimination of violence.
Connecting to these themes, the webinar will explore how environmental justice and injustice - including extractivism, climate change, land dispossession and unequal resource governance - intersect with economic inequality and shape sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a particular focus on women and girls.
The discussion will examine accountability gaps and structural barriers to justice, while also highlighting pathways toward evidence- and rights-based responses that advance equality, sustainability, and the wellbeing of communities.
