| LAUNCH OF A SRHM SPECIAL COLLECTION ON ABORTION RIGHTS On Human Rights Day, 10 December 2024, Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM) will be launching a Special Collection of the SRHM Journal, 'The continuing fight for abortion rights: Taking stock of the evidence'. This collection will showcase over 30 articles from the SRHM journal, ranging from women's experiences, policies and politics of abortion, criminalization and legal matters, health systems and services, technological advances, the needs and rights of marginalized populations and emerging challenges. The collection also highlights the gaps in current evidence and calls for research, discussion and analysis. To explore and understand the diverse contexts of abortion rights worldwide, SRHM has partnered with four regional institutions to examine recent gains and setbacks of abortion rights in each region and to identify the evidence needed to advance abortion rights locally. In observance of Human Rights Day 2024, SRHM will co-host five webinars across timezones on Tuesday 10 December 2024, each dedicated to a specific region: - 11:00 CET: South Asia region (in English), co-hosted by the Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS) at the Jindal Global Law School, India and the Centre for Research on Environment, Health and Population Activities (CREHPA), Nepal.
- 13:00 CET: Francophone Africa region (in French), co-hosted by Ensemble pour les Droits et Santé Sexuelle et de la Reproduction (EDSSR), Morocco
- 17:00 CET Latin America and the Caribbean region (in Spanish), co-hosted by Mesa por la Vida y la Salud de las Mujeres and the Faculty of Law, Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia
- 17:30 CET A globally focussed in-person event (in English), co-hosted by The Institute of Global Health, The Global Studies Institute and the Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics (IDESO) at the University of Geneva, which will be live-streamed from Geneva.
- 18:30 CET Eastern Mediterranean region (in Arabic), hosted by SRHM
These events will draw from the SRHM Abortion Collection and previous RHM/SRHM publications, assess the current state of abortion rights, and will conclude with a call for the evidence needed to move the safe abortion movement forward. We invite you to join one, or more, of these critical conversations as we confront the challenges facing abortion rights around the world. Links to register for each regional event can be found below. Recordings of all events will be made available on the SRHM website. |
